It would be unfair to call Gulli Danda an amateur sport played in the rural areas and small towns of Panjab. In fact it was a passion, a fever, and for some even religion.
The game is played with two sticks: a large one called danda which is used to hit a smaller one, called the gulli. When Cosco balls became affordable, slowly cricket replaced the game, which used to be an all time favourite of kids and adults alike. Did you ever play this lost game of Panjab? Do share your thoughts and experiences.
