In 1604, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s manuscript was completed
and installed at Sri Harmandir Sahib with Baba Buddha Ji as the first granthi.
Since Sikh disciples were scattered all over northern India, copies of Sri Guru
Granth Sahib Ji were needed for them.
September 01 marks the installation (or birth) anniversary
of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and is celebrated the world over with immense
fervour. Sikh devotees carry a palanquin containing the Guru Granth Sahib,
Sikh's holy Scripture. Gatka is performed. At night there are fireworks.
